A slow drag along sluggish days

Well this isn’t new. It’s an annual affair. Fasting month in its glorious wonders do tend to slow people down a bit during the days. I am used to the idea of hanging around Coffee Bean, Starbucks and even the many Nasi Kandar joints in town when I meet people.

I obstinately hate offices.

The sound it makes, the invincible barriers between the cubicles and offices, the nitpicking people have – these are pretty good reasons to hate the office environment I believe. So that is why, I often conduct my meetings over “teh tarik” and coffee all over town. It works for me. I bring my client or whomever that I want to meet into an environment where they can relax, away from the prying eyes of their colleagues and everyone is more relaxed, so I get more things done – and usually a lot more information too.

The only time the office is useful is when you need to have big (often useless, but important looking) meetings to pretend that everyone is going to work together or when you listen to boring vendors trying to impress you with something that really doesn’t meet your need, more expensive then it should be, and is impossible to implement.

So now, during these weeks I am somewhat desk-bound. Watching the whole lot of people working very hard at pretending to work, and flipping screens every time someone walks by. As I always believe, it’s a hypocritical life we lead, and sometimes we just need to move to a place where it’s a bit more translucent.

The blog kinda helps, but it's not enough yet.

Can you imagine if your brain is wired to your laptop, and you can transfer ALL your thoughts into your blog without typing anything? And what would be more fun is if you don’t have any control over the flow of thoughts, so whatever is in your mind will just pour into the pages of your blogs! Imagine all those hidden dark secrets reeling in our minds being emptied into these pages.

Now that’s what I would call nasty! And FUN!

Yummy...

(Zed’s Note: I am really getting the hang of this ranting thingy.)

Capturing Files from Network Streams
Eric Chavez, a good friend of mine, alerted to a new tool called tcpxtract . The purpose of this tool is to extract files from network dump files.
Hi, I was just blog surfing and found you!

If you are interested, go see my small dog product related site.

It isnt anything special but you may still find something of interest.

not very recommendable la bro, we'll be having frogs and snakes and lizards jumping around a bikini clad jessica alba in my blog. =)

I do enough ranting for both of us Zed. Don't get used to it... you might just end up a boring, mundane dude like myself.

Ok, guys... cool off with the Jessica Alba already ;) It's still office hours

In this case i think you'll need to install some sort of firewall on the laptop (preferably hardware based) in order to filter some contents before they corrupt your laptop firmware (not to mention the Windows OS). heheheheh. By the way, I don't like Jessica Alba.

err, i don't think it'll be a good idea. all those craps in my minds.. yep, definitely not a good idea.

we are actually working on the technology that will be able to transmit waves from the brain to a machine i.e. computers. but you can select the type of 'thoughts' you want to be transmitted. it will be very very mind-boggling for the layman to understand the technicalities. just imagine RFID but very much high-end and advanced.

call me crazy. But the instant i think about weird crazy stuff, i sorta freak out cos i fear that someone else could read my mind. And i start chanting 'satorare, satorare' quietly.
Blame it on a Japan Drama i watched 3 yrs ago. The title is Satorare. It's about a guy that doesnt know that whatever the hell he was thinking, all can be heard by other ppl who is within 50m vicinity to him. He has no idea about it cos nobody would tell him that they could hear whatever he has on his mind. Imagine him meeting unexpectedly with future father-in-law for the 1st time, he was praising the F-I-L, while thanking God at the back of his mind cos his GF doesn't take after her father in the look department. Man, this drama is hilarious.

Hi Zed,
At 6-Flags, there's this brain-scan thingie which one needs to go thru before one is allowed on the "spaceship". Well, I think I was 15 then, ........ the handsome man behind the brain-scan counter smiled at me and told me to be careful of what I think of because it may show on the monitor.
I was petrified!
Cause my brain went like #%*&^)(@$@!(*&^^%#!!$%$$&*

If only I knew then, what I know now!
I would have just winked at him and blew him a kiss!

Zed said...

hi pojan,

hilarious! i AGREE! i would have liked the show =) satorare... hmmm i wonder what it means in japanese? if people could read my mind as i speak to them, i think i would be a vewy vewy lonely fella heh heh. my mind tend to go on overdrive sometimes and get distracted pretty fast.

hey babe,

yup... and i also would like the x-files to figure out why traffic in KL gets bad when it rains! something that really makes me wonder, it's not like you get wet in a car.

hi leilanie,

if you know then what you know now, they may have to rate the scanner PG18! he he he...

in my case it shall obviously end up XXX! heh heh

Yeah! Getting a brain wired to a laptop is a cool idea!
I also wish that my brain can be connected to my phone...
me so lazy to reply sms

an0nymous-ign0ranus said...

even the best of xfiles team can't figure that one out. one solution: don't work in kl. like me. hahaha ... 20 - 35 mins to reach workplace. hahaha ...

Zed said...

hi butterflyn,

you are so right! no more sms'ing and dialing, just think of a name and VOILA! but what if you were supposed to dial your boyfriend and thought of a guy you have a crush in the office? will you be dialing both, end up on a conference call and hmmm... he he he.

hi babe,

well, since i don't go to the office, my car is my refuge and traffic is my hell he he...

will make a good commentator for traffic updates usually =)
